I’m Murray Sampson, a pianist, trombonist, and composer based in the Methow Valley of Washington State. I also dabble in ukulele and violin and they may make the occasional appearance here.
I also teach private lessons and classes, as well as provide accompaniment here in the Methow Valley. Check out my Teaching and Accompaniment pages for more info on private lessons in piano and low brass, music classes for tots, and accompaniment.
My blog here is a creative exercise for me. A place to share what I’m playing and writing. As a challenge to myself I’ll be posting mostly things I learn in the course of a regular practice session. Occasionally I will post more advanced pieces I have worked on for an extended period. Sometimes I’ll sight read and you’ll see all my mistakes. I’ll also periodically post compositions I’m working on, either from my notebook or shared through my notation program Noteflight.
You can subscribe to my newsletter to get the occasional newsletter with updates on classes and lessons, or other music events in the Valley. I hope you enjoy following along.
I will look forward to further developments!
